We have three different types of accommodations at The Alexander: Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. Independent Living is intended for older adults who can manage their daily lives. Assisted Living is for older adults with mobility challenges and need support with daily activities. Memory Care is for adults with dementia that includes loss in memory, reasoning, and other cognitive functions. To learn more about the differences in accommodations and criteria, please reference this chart.
The Alexander building is made of insulated concrete form (ICF) with efficiency close to Passive House standards. The exterior cladding is a Sto product - a synthetic stucco that is a type of cladding that provides wall exteriors with an insulated finished surface. It appears like wood but it is actually a type of stucco that is applied in multiple layers over exterior sheathing, to create an energy-efficient, fire-resistance, low-maintenance, beautiful, and versatile exterior cladding. We have chosen colours so that the building can blend in with the beautiful environment of Muskoka. In addition, there are large triple-pane windows in all suites allowing for natural light to come in but not the draft.
