I know that Leonard and Marie put so much love and effort in creating the concept based on their extensive nursing experiences with elderly people in Ontario. When we met they explained their why's so beautifully. Giving elderly people in Canada, a dignified, highly professional, and caring care in old age. The owners have done their work researching what the seniors in our area are wanting and needing in a retirement home. The facility has been built with every detail considered. The staff is kind, helpful and so very friendly! Our decision to choose The Alexander for our family members has turned out to be the best next step for them at this time in their lives. As a Hospitality professional I am so impressed by this team and the beyond beautiful facilities. We call it the The Resort not the Home. I purposely made a point of seeing my Mother at meal times. She has enjoyed two respite style stays, Fall 2024 and Spring 2025, when her seasonal residence was not accessible. Beautiful furnished unit and incredible support services, not the mention the socially stimulating activities. They publish a calendar like you would find at an all inclusive resort!!!! The team is so kind, happy and professional.

Moving to Muskoka from the city was a dream come true! Having spent time in other rural country settings like Bobcaygeon, Bracebridge and Halliburton, retiring to a suite with the spectacular water view at The Alexander was the icing on the cake. Speaking of cake…they offer a wonderful selection…but I still reign “the ice cream king!” Besides the great food, the caring and attentive staff gives me and my daughter peace of mind that I will be getting the support when needed during my health journey. Having a team of PSW’s, nurses and a Nurse Practitioner on staff to help is comforting.

As a retired physio/occupational therapist, I understand the value of keeping active. The Alexander offers many meaningful and purposeful activities that keep me moving and involved. The life enrichment programs offer various exercise options including a fully equipped gym and group classes that focus on each person’s abilities and having fun!

Our move to Alexander was one of the best decisions we have ever made. We are part of a warm and welcoming community run by highly skilled professionals that have set a high standard of service excellence. Everyone works as a team and the staff really listen and want to make us feel comfortable and at home. Since it is a full-service residence, Ross and I can spend more time together enjoying the fun programs, hosting our family for lunches and dinners and developing new friendships along the way. We still maintain our circle of friends out in the community and enjoy the carefree lifestyle of not maintaining a home. We highly recommend The Alexander to anyone thinking of making a change for the better!

Moving to Gravenhurst was an easy transition for me. Besides the breathtaking water views of the Muskoka Wharf from my suite, the outdoor patios and terraces give us front row seats to all the lake life has to offer from spectacular sunsets, holiday fireworks displays to the RMS Segwun and Wenonah II Steamship Cruises and Muskoka Discovery Centre, shops and dining…it’s all at our doorstep. The staff have been handpicked by the owners, and they are always ready to help and are “at your service” with a smile! This is truly aging in place made easy!
